The Martyrdom of the Báb is a Bahá'í holy day commemorating the execution of Siyyid 'Alí-Muhammad, the founder of the Bábí Faith and forerunner of Bahá'u'lláh, who was shot by a firing squad in Tabriz, Persia, on July 9, 1850 . According to the Bahá'í calendar, the observance falls on July 10, 2026 . Bahá'ís mark the day with prayers and reflection on the Báb's mission to herald the coming of "Him Whom God shall make manifest," and his sacrifice in the face of fierce opposition from religious and state authorities .
