Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Gurpurab, also known as Parkash Purab or Guru Nanak Jayanti, celebrates the birth of the first Sikh Guru and the founder of Sikhism, who was born in 1469 in Talwandi (present-day Nankana Sahib, Pakistan). Observed on Kartik Purnima (the full moon day of the lunar month of Kartik), which in 2026 falls on November 24 according to the SGPC/Akal Takht calendar , the day is marked with Akhand Paths, kirtans, Nagar Kirtan processions, and langar, while devotees reflect on his timeless teachings of "Ik Onkar" (One God), equality, and selfless service. His hymns, including the Japji Sahib, continue to inspire Sikhs and people of all faiths to lead lives of devotion, humility, and compassion.
