Latar Belakang / Sejarah

Gurdwara Shib Butterworth has a long history of its foundation that can be traced back to the Sikh Community that settled along the Jalan Pantai due to the employment by the Straits Trading Company Ltd., way back in the early 20th century. In 1934, a single-story brick structure with a tilted roof situated along the Jalan Chain Ferry (now Jalan New Ferry) was officiated as the Gurdwara Sahib Butterworth. After a decade at Jalan Chain Ferry, the gurdwara moved into the current building at Jalan Todak in 2019. Gurdwara Shib Butterworth is the lastest house of worship at the Street of Harmony - Seberang Jaya.
