Latar Belakang / Sejarah

The History of Penang Hokkien Methodist Church was established among the Hokkien-Speaking community in 1895 as the "Gospel Light" shrine, which afterward was called Methodists. The faithful and energetic efforts of these pioneers and their successors contributed to the growth of the Church both numerically and spiritually during the next 40 years. The pressure of increased memberships moved the previous chapel to the present building in Madras Lane in 1937.
