Latar Belakang / Sejarah

Victory Lutheran Church belongs to the Northern District section of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malaysia. The congregation in Island Glades is the only one on Penang Island. Nevertheless, it traces its beginnings to being one of the earliest Lutheran congregations in the country. Lutheran missionaries had visited Penang as early as the year 1900. The Lutheran church planting in this country was the effort of the Leipzig Evangelical Lutheran Mission carried out from India. Many of the early Lutheran missionaries were Germans, with latter missionaries coming from the Church of Sweden Mission.
