In 1903, with a love offering by a Chinese Christian, a double storey brick house became a meeting place for the early Ayer Itam church. The upstairs was used as an English school and downstairs for evangelism purposes. In 1939, the Ayer Itam ministry was again ignited by two pastors. The aftermath of the Pacific Ocean’s war, a new chapel was built in 1950. By the Christmas of 1956, Rev. Peter Hsu submitted an application to request to become an independent church. After approval, the Ayer Itam Chapel was officially established in 1960 and was named the Ayer Itam Chinese Methodist Church. Rev. Peter Hsu was the first senior pastor for our church.
