Latar Belakang / Sejarah

Bukit Mertajam Chinese Methodist Church was founded in the year 1896 by J.M. Thoburn who was the Bishop of the Methodist church in Malaya at that time. He was succeeded by Pastor Bun Ah Toon helped establish the church in its early days. The main building of the church is shaped like the Chinese character of the "Human" to represent the church's role as a place for congregation gathering. The church mostly serves Chinese parishioners from Bukit Mertajam and their weekly Sunday services are conducted in Mandarin.
