Saint James, often known as James the Just or the brother of Jesus, was a prominent leader of the early Christian church in Jerusalem and a key figure in the Jerusalem Council. Though initially skeptical during Jesus' earthly ministry, he became a devoted follower after a post-resurrection appearance by Christ and was known for his deep piety and commitment to the law. Tradition holds that he wrote the Epistle of James, which emphasizes active faith and righteous living, and that he suffered a martyr's death around 62 AD. His feast day is celebrated annually on October 23.
