The Cnfession of St. Peter commemorates the pivotal moment in the Gospels (such as Matthew 16:13–20) when the Apostle Peter declared Jesus to be "the Messiah, the Son of the living God". Observed in several liturgical traditions (such as the Anglican and Episcopal calendars) on January 18th, this feast celebrates the divine grace that inspired Peter's profound profession of faith, which Jesus designated as the foundational rock upon which He would build His Church.
